Londoners in Dublin. I caught this show while accompanying Aida on a business trip to Dublin. She was busy with clients one entire day so, starting very early, I got lost in the city and bought a ticket to a tiny but modern venue hosting The Rakes for some quick-paced, jittery guitar rock. By the time they went on I was pretty tired … and the crowd must’ve been too because the response was tepid at best. Despite the low energy, the boys in the band delivered a solid performance, covering their hits (bigger in their native U.K. than in America) and a bunch of good stuff I hadn’t heard before.
